The Committee of Management is the governing body of BGCLS. It is governed by the rules contained within the Constitution of Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service Inc. The Constitution sets out the basis for membership of the Service and is committed to community management through involvement of community members on the Committee of Management.

Scott Sheritt Chairperson Scott Sherritt is the current Chair of BGCLS. He has had a multi-faceted career starting off as an accountant before a long stint in the insurance industry and later roles in local government. Currently he works in the community health sector and is committed to the wellbeing of those facing all forms of disadvantage. His other community focused interests at present include contributing to the Advisory Board of Her Majesty’s Theatre Ballarat and risk based advice to Federation University Australia’s Animal Ethics Committee. Scott has long term connections to the Ballarat community and welcomes the connection to BGCLS and its contributions to the community |
Steven Ashton Vice Chairperson Steven is a valued member of the Committee of Management and has been involved with the service in various capacities for many years. Steven is dedicated to the practice of law and to obtaining the best possible outcome for clients. "When a client entrusts me to help guide them through a legal matter, I approach each case with integrity, understanding, and a strong work ethic." |
Debra Harris Ordinary Member Deb has been involved with BGCLS for a number of years through the Communities of Respect and Equality (CoRE) Initiative run by Women's Health Grampians (WHG) and has been a valued member of our Committee for the past 12 months. Deb joined the WHG team in 2018. Deb commenced her career as a registered nurse and has lived and worked both interstate and overseas including third world countries. She has also worked in the primary care, corporate and education sectors. Deb has a passion for improving the lives of those in her community with a particular focus on those in marginalised communities. When she is not at work Deb loves spending time with her family, gardening, reading and exploring the region. |
Pauline Faye Ordinary Member Pauline joined the BGCLS to make a positive contribution to the great work that legal services provide to the community and to maximise opportunities that will support the future growth of the Service. With experience in community development and community at the local and state government levels, private and public sector organisations, Pauline has been involved in many grassroots community projects through to large multi-million-dollar infrastructure developments – the common theme being identifying need and finding a way to achieve it. Pauline is also a licensed conveyancer with over 40 years’ experience and has a passion for advocating for people’s rights to participate equally in the legal system, social policy and decision making. Personally, Pauline has a passion for social justice, community and property development, using a lot of physical activity in the garden and renovating. |
Trent Loader Ordinary Member Trent is the Director, Career Education at Education Services Australia (ESA) – the company that manages myfuture, the National Career Information Service. Holding full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and a Professional Member of the CDAA, Trent has extensive experience working with high risk adolescents over more than 25 years having worked as a Youth Worker, and as a Secondary school teacher also the VET/VCAL/ Careers Coordinator, Head of School and also as a University Education Manager. Trent is currently a Doctoral Candidate at ACU with a research area in Chaos Theory of Careers investigating Adolescent Perception of Chance Events in relation to their opportunity Awareness. |
Peter Cranage Ordinary Member Peter brings over 30 years of experience working with individuals and groups in social welfare services across community, hospital and private sectors. His work has focused on working with people in the area from all sorts of backgrounds, with a strong focus in family and domestic violence, residential care and drug and alcohol support. In addition to this Peter also has experience in facilitating various training programs for professionals. |
